Why print this
It’s one thing to print a decorative model that looks right. It’s another to print a part that has to function. This clip either snaps onto whatever it’s designed for or it doesn’t. That’s instant, tactile feedback on whether your flow rate and dimensional accuracy are correct.
Before you slice
No supports needed. Use 0.2 mm layer height and 40% infill for strength — this is a functional part under repeated mechanical stress. Print a few copies (they’re fast) so you can test fit and have spares.
What to expect
- Slice at 0.2 mm layer height, 40% infill, no supports.
- Print time is approximately 15 minutes.
- Remove from the bed when cool.
- Test the clip on its intended mounting point. It should snap on with moderate pressure.
- If it doesn’t fit, note whether it’s too tight or too loose before adjusting flow rate.
If it goes wrong
- Clip too tight to snap on — flow rate slightly high. Reduce extrusion multiplier by 1–2% and reprint.
- Clip too loose, falls off — flow rate low or the model was sliced with incorrect horizontal expansion. Check flow rate.
- Clip snapping during installation — printed too brittle (cold temperatures, or PLA in a dry environment). Try printing at 5°C higher nozzle temperature to improve layer adhesion.
- Elephant’s foot distorting the base — raise Z offset slightly; a flared base can prevent clips from seating flat.
Recommended slicer settings
Paste into PrusaSlicer or OrcaSlicer — adjust to taste.
